Brothers Arrive at School in True Emergency Style

Monday, June 10, 2013 was a great day for three brothers. Instead of riding the school bus, they arrived at Pine Grove School in true emergency style on the Avon Volunteer Fire Department’s (AVFD) Engine 14. Driving up with lights flashing to thunderous applause and huge cheers from their classmates and teachers, the Russo boys were all smiles as they exited the apparatus to attend school. No, the town didn’t do away with school buses. The AVFD donated rides to school on fire engines as auction items for annual fundraising events for both Avon elementary schools: Pine Grove and Roaring Brook. It was a huge win for the schools, and boy was it a great prize for these brothers.
