AVFD Responds to Quinns Court Structure Fire

AVON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO STRUCTURE FIRE ON QUINNS COURT

February 23, 2026 | Avon, Conn. Just after 6:30 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, the Avon Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 8 Quinns Court.

Upon arrival, fire personnel encountered a heavy fire condition in a four-car garage. Crews confirmed the home’s occupants were evacuated and unharmed and took immediate action to extinguish the fire, which extended to the home along the roofline.

“This call came in during the height of the blizzard this morning; extreme snow and wind conditions made fire suppression efforts very challenging,” said Avon Volunteer Fire Department Chief and Town of Avon Fire Marshal/Emergency Manager Bruce Appell. “Our crews worked swiftly to control the situation and ensure the safety of everyone involved. We appreciate the support of our neighboring departments from Farmington, Canton, Simsbury, UConn, Burlington, Plainville, and New Hartford who assisted on scene and provided station coverage and incident response in town, as well as all emergency responders who assisted at the scene.”

The incident was brought under control and crews remained on scene for some time to monitor for hot spots. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for evaluation. No other details are available at this time. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
